What We Do

We offer a range of services to support family carers. To find out more, please call 01603 219924 or email info@norfolkfamilycarers.org

Telephone advice and support line

You can call our Freephone 0808 808 9876 line for information, advice and support for family carers.

Access to carers’ funds and grants

As a network partner of Carers Trust and Carers UK we have access to some funding for individual family carers that other organisations may not. Please call us on 0808 808 9876 if you think we can help.

Supporting young people

Our countywide Transitions service provides 1:1 and family support plus a mixture of social opportunities and residential programmes for young adult carers (16-24 years) and their families. We also run group and residential support for young carers (6-16 years) and their families. Please get in touch if you think we can help you or a young person you know.

Counselling

This service is for anyone who is looking after a family member or friend and is finding things difficult. There’s a charge, although we may be able to reduce this in some cases. All of our counsellors are BACP qualified. Please get in touch if you think we can help.

Caring at a distance

Looking after a friend or family member can be difficult enough, but it’s even harder if you don’t live close by, or you’re very busy. We’re offering great value, personalised short and long-term support packages to help you make sure your loved-one is well supported and to give you added peace of mind. Please call us to discuss your and your family’s needs.

Expert advice and support

Our Family Care Advisers can provide you with one-to-one expert advice and support to help you make sense of your options and to balance your caring responsibilities with the rest of your life. From completing benefits claim forms, to guiding and supporting you and your family to find the right care, our support is tailored to meet your needs and budget. Get in touch to find out how we can help.

Carer information session

We know that getting the right support at the right time is crucial to help carers balance their caring role and avoid reaching crisis. We offer information sessions for carers or people who may find themselves caring in the future. The sessions cover: the support that’s available from health and social care services; information about benefits; advice on carers’ rights and money matters; keeping healthy and emotional support. Each participant is given an information pack to take away. If you’re interested in hosting a carer information session, please get in touch.

For businesses: supporting employees who are carers

Supporting carers at work makes business sense. Through our Employee Assist programme your staff gain access to valuable expertise and support to balance their work and caring responsibilities, making them less likely to reduce their hours or give up work. To discuss how we can help your business, please get in touch.

Supporting commissioners and funders

We’re always seeking opportunities to develop and pilot new ways of supporting family carers. Our work cuts across many sectors including primary and community health and social care, education, employment and skills, housing and transport. If you think we could help you to meet your organisation’s priorities and objectives, please get in touch.
